You’ll have to take my word, because I can’t find it anywhere online. But I’ll never forget an exchange I saw between Roy Firestone and Cecil Fielder in, I think, 1991. Firestone pointed out that Fielder had earned $78,500 three seasons earlier in Toronto. And then he said, “You’re going to earn $4.5 million next season!”
With a huge smile, Fielder shook his head. “That’s a lotta iron, man. A lotta iron.”
